Intro- "Welcome!"

Welcome parents and students,

My name is Ms.Berry. I'm from Magnolia, TX. I am a Sam Houston State EC- 6th grade graduate.
I am looking forward to teaching all of my new 2nd grade students this school year!

A little bit about my home life and family:

I have a dog named Jessa who will be 5 years old on July 12th. She is a mix of red Doberman, black lab, and husky. However, she mostly looks like a chocolate lab. Her favorite thing to do is swim in creeks, lakes, and ponds. She also carries her squirrel toy around like it's her baby.

I have a sister, named Lorin, who recently got married the day after Christmas, and a younger brother named Lucas who is a 5th grader. Lucas plays soccer, and is just one belt away from earning his black belt in Taekwondo!

Sometimes I like to ride my dirtbike for fun and I love fishing!

My Teaching Philosphy:

It is my belief that through education, a person makes a great investment in one’s own self because learning is lifelong. As a teacher, I hope to activate curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in each of my students through the works of my teaching.  It is important to me that I teach my students to not only love learning in everything they do (especially outside the classroom), but also to allow my students to see any mistakes and imperfections as a part of the learning process. I believe that Benjamin Franklin was spot on in saying, “Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” My promise to my students is to get to know my students daily, constantly reflect on my teaching, and to include each of their unique learning styles in the way that I teach in efforts to keep them engaged. I stand firm on creating a safe classroom environment. Each year I aim to have a classroom community full of students that are respectful, encouraging, collaborators, and problem solvers. Through this I believe that every student will grow, their strengths will be built on, and any weaknesses will improve.
